Chapter 8 Reflection (hb)

The blessing. The curse. It’s what we fear and what we rely on. It has ultimately shaped how our society thrives. It is --- Technology. Many would argue some of the points which I brought up. However, technology has done more good for the world than it has bad. Technology has done so much for education as discussed in Chapter 8. The possibilities of using technology in the classroom are also virtually endless. The use of cameras, DVD’s, CD’s, internet, digital microscopes, computer programs, and data sensors are several tools that can help students have a deeper understanding and improve on their problem-solving skills. The internet specifically has become an important resource for teaching and learning as the book states. A teacher should, however, review sites and web pages to make sure the sources are credible and that the pages are age-appropriate. Technology is very near and dear to my heart, which is why I understand the implications that it can carry as well. Overall, technology has become a huge asset in the classroom especially with multimedia presentations that can aide in classroom instruction and with the use of database and spreadsheets in aiding with assessment and classroom management. I believe that technology has contributed in making our society as a whole a very “right now” society. However, as I mentioned earlier, it’s a small price to pay for the all the good that has come from it and will come from it.
